Oktava is a Russian microphone and electronics manufacturer based in Tula, Russia. In the late 1990’s Oktava microphones took the world by storm and in a few short years became a top seller of microphones in the USA and world wide. Their quirky, handmade, appearance was not a hindrance to sales, in fact, it became a selling feature at a time when the vintage gear craze was only barely beginning. Handmade using vintage techniques in a vintage factory they became nicknamed “the Russian Neumann.”

The microphone is a part of a professional microphones premium range designed for professional studio recording. MK-117 microphone is created in the “bottle” design which became popular thanks to the tube MKL-5000.

This microphone is characterized by high sensitivity, low level of noise, and high level of ultimate sound pressure. This microphone works well in the mid-frequency range, which allows it to be used for recording vocals, speech, string instruments, acoustic guitars, electric guitars, and wind instruments.
Most often, is used for recording vocals, podcasts, and when working with a drum kit.

RIBBON GOLD
OKTAVA ML-52-02
ML-52-02 by Oktava is a professional ribbon microphone, which has “figure-eight” polar pattern. The microphone has a strong low-frequency boost, a unique sound, and is designed for recording vocals and instruments. ML-52-02 is a decent way to understand the difference between condenser microphones, dynamic microphones, and ribbon microphones.

This microphone will perfectly complement your sound palette in different applications, as a main microphone or as an auxiliary microphone.

This microphone is extremely well if you need to cut off the excess top, for example, for wind instruments, or when recording an electric guitar from a combo. It is also suitable for recording low-frequency instruments: bass guitar, acoustic bass guitar, and low male vocals.
ML-52-02 microphone may also be used for recording drum kits, as an overhead or a room.
